The VPI HW-19 is a serious American-built belt-drive turntable that prioritised engineering over aesthetics. The construction philosophy was straightforward — build it heavy and inert, from the lead-laminated aluminium platter to the steel-reinforced subchassis. It borrowed the platter, bearing, and suspension directly from VPI’s flagship model. A 20-pound, four-layer lead-impregnated acrylic platter for substantial rotational inertia, reducing noise and dramatically tightening bass focus. Wow and flutter measure 0.04% with speed accuracy of 0.01%
