Marantz STEREO 70s – Premium 2.2-Channel Integrated Stereo Network Receiver

The Marantz STEREO 70s is a sophisticated stereo amplifier that combines traditional Marantz high-fidelity engineering with modern digital connectivity and home entertainment versatility. Featuring a fully discrete Class A/B amplification circuit with Marantz Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAM), it delivers a genuine 75 watts per channel into 8Ω (20Hz–20kHz, 0.08% THD, both channels driven) and 100 watts per channel into 6Ω (1kHz, 0.7% THD). Its wide frequency response of 10Hz–100kHz (+1/−3dB in Direct mode) and 98dB signal-to-noise ratio contribute to excellent clarity, precise stereo imaging and detailed musical reproduction. Designed with Marantz’s signature Sound Master tuning philosophy, the STEREO 70s aims for a smooth, natural and engaging presentation, offering satisfying bass control, expressive midrange and refined high-frequency detail. Despite its compact, approximately 109mm-high chassis, it incorporates a capable stereo amplification platform suitable for quality bookshelf and floorstanding loudspeakers.

Connectivity is one of the Marantz STEREO 70s’ greatest strengths, making it an exceptionally versatile centrepiece for both traditional Hi-Fi systems and contemporary home entertainment setups. It features six HDMI inputs, including three supporting 8K video, and one HDMI output with ARC for convenient television integration. Video compatibility includes 8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and gaming technologies such as VRR and ALLM. Music enthusiasts benefit from built-in HEOS multiroom streaming, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and access to supported online music services. High-resolution playback supports FLAC, WAV and ALAC up to 24-bit/192kHz, alongside DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz. For analogue enthusiasts, the amplifier includes a dedicated Moving Magnet phono input with 2.5mV sensitivity, three conventional analogue inputs, optical and coaxial digital inputs, USB playback, and AM/FM radio. Additional features include Speaker A/B switching, two subwoofer outputs and 2.2-channel preamplifier outputs for external power amplification.

Beyond its extensive specifications, the Marantz STEREO 70s stands out for delivering an enjoyable two-channel listening experience without the complexity of a conventional multichannel AV receiver. Its Pure Direct modeminimises unnecessary signal processing, allowing listeners to enjoy a cleaner audio signal when playing vinyl records, CDs or high-resolution digital recordings. The HDAM-based circuitry is designed to preserve musical dynamics and fine detail, while the amplifier’s Class A/B output stage provides a pleasing balance of control, tonal richness and musicality. Its dedicated subwoofer connectivity makes it especially attractive for smaller bookshelf speaker systems requiring additional low-frequency extension, while the stereo pre-outs allow future upgrades with more powerful external amplifiers. Finished in Marantz’s elegant slimline design with its distinctive circular OLED display, the STEREO 70s is an excellent choice for music lovers seeking a refined, space-saving amplifier that combines traditional audiophile values, vinyl compatibility, modern streaming and advanced television connectivity in one beautifully integrated component.
